Year in Review

​

 

               We come to this time of year so grateful for partnerships which allow us to serve those God has entrusted to us for His care.   

 

            It is through partnerships we are able to rest in a tiny rural Appalachia community and see $8.5 million in-kind dollars go through our hands of goods and services and volunteer labor in 2024. 

            We are grateful to mission teams also that come in the summer.  This year we have hosted Churches from Florida,  North Carolina,  Georgia,  Mississippi,  and Kentucky.  Our goal for each team is to provide the “BEST” experience they have ever had while “on mission”. 

 

               We have just finished over 30 Christmas parties serving 1,000 children and last Saturday distributing 700 Christmas meals (complete with turkey, box of produce, box of holiday canned items, rolls and pie) in Rogersville, 275 in Church Hill and 350 in Sneedville. 

 

            We have served all year in both Hawkins and Hancock County (Sneedville) which is the lowest income county in Tennessee and we estimate 1/3 of it’s residents are unemployed.  So serving both Hawkins County and Hancock County residents is a big job.

 

            We have distributed over 1 million pounds of food since 2008 each year.  

 

            Of One Accord received their 1st  $Million Dollar Grant to purchase a free standing Doctors Medical Clinic to expand our Medical Clinic program and we have a doctor on staff a couple of days a week.

            RAM (Remote Area Medical) founded by Wild Kingdom Host Stan Brock returned to Hancock County for the 3rd time with 270 volunteers offering $240,000 in services over a 2 day period of time. 

            Annette Arms, our new Mission Team Director did an outstanding job hosting teams this year, which did many critical home repairs for Appalachian families.  We interviewed one family and this was the ladies story.  She grew up as one of 14 children.  They had no water in their home, no bathroom, and no electricity when she grew up and their family had no car until she was out of high school.  Some 30 teams traveled here for home repairs,  VBS,  and medical mission work.   

            1,500 families received Thanksgiving food boxes divided between Rogersville, Church Hill and Sneedville

            And 1,425 families received Christmas food boxes. 

            Through the amazing efforts of some 50 volunteers that gave out these dinners, literally over a mile of traffic was taken care of in about 1 hr and 15 minutes.  This is unbelievable. 

 

            We expect again to see over 400 volunteers and 30 mission teams serve with us distributing over $8 Million dollars of goods and services with only a 1% administrative fee.

HJR 0051 -  Tenn Resolution calling Churches to Pray, Fast and Repent through July 2024

Tn representative Monty Fritts felt called of God to draft a resolution calling Tennessee churches to observe a month of prayer, fasting and repentance during July 2024.  In what legislators realize is a miracle, the bill passed the House, the Senate and was signed by the governor.

Rep Fritts then wanted to notify prayer groups in all counties to schedule a reading of the resolution and praying at each county courthouse.

As East Tn Coordinator for NDP and TN Prayer Coalition, he asked Sheldon Livesay (director) to organize the upper 15 counties.

(I really believe this has been a Nineveh moment for our state and nation)

Our board approved me working with him.  3 other board members are also key leaders of the TN Prayer Coaltion and were on either the initial launch program 6/28 or the final program 7/31. 

I was privileged also to travel with him to attend 15 upper East TN counties.

            In 2025- the bill was reintroduced  (HJR 0051)  and passed into law- only changing the wording to make it perpetual for years to come.
